I’ve been a sports lover all my life and competed in most disciplines from childhood. When I was younger, my dream was to become a professional footballer but due to an injury I sustained, this was no longer a possibility. Even though this was a stumbling block, we often have to get back to ground zero, reset and restart.
Being surrounded by motorbikes and a family who are avid two-wheel lovers my attention was immediately grabbed by the thrill of high-speed racing. I’m competitive by nature and have always been a thrill seeker, so this was the perfect confluence to develop my riding talent to what it is today.
I started out on the racetracks of South Africa riding with my dad, which is where my love and respect for the sport was instilled. Sheer determination and the test of time has developed my confidence, abilities and experience. There’s no greater feeling than taking a corner at high speed knowing that can trust my talent and experience.
Since then, I have devoted my time and energy into riding on two wheels at every opportunity I get. If I’m not practising or racing, I’ll be riding my Super Motard. I also practice on my offroad, and for fun, I enjoy riding my downhill mountain bike. The sheer thrill of speed coupled with the talent to control it is something that has shaped my career and lifestyle over the past seven years.
2017 was a momentous year, putting my career in the fast lane. I attended the California Superbike School where I completed levels 1 to 4 of their intensive training programme. Pushing my skills and talent to the limits, I have learnt how to identify and correct imperfections whilst taking my development into a whole new dimension, where man and machine become one.
Putting my skills to the test and putting my name on the map, I joined the Anassis Racing Team and competed in the National Super 600 Series. This was my first real-world racing where I achieved a P3 podium finish in only my second race. I podiumed three times that year and finished 6th overall in the championship.
My career kicked up a gear in 2018 where I competed in the National Super 300 series as well as the World Supersport 300 Series where I finished in 38th position overall. Gaining a wealth of experience on an international level, I moved up 11 spots and finished 27th overall the very next year.
I am currently riding for IUM Motorsports based in Spain, where I take part in the FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship as well as the ESBK Championship. With priceless experience, unwavering determination and a competitive spirit next to none, my vision is to move to the world stage through Moto3 and ultimately race with fellow South Africans, Brad and Darren Binder in the MotoGP.
I have put everything I’ve learnt into practice since starting out and my love, passion and devotion grows daily. See you at the podium!
